HARMONY DAY
POSTED: 21st March 2019
A message from MDSI's CEO
March 21 marks Harmony Day celebrations around Australia, celebrating United Nations International Day for the elimination of Racial Discrimination. Harmony Day is about community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect and belonging.
As community service agency we get together to celebrate the message of “Everyone Belongs”.
This year Harmony Day has a shadow cast over its proceedings due to the world mourning the mass killing of innocent people in Christchurch.
MDSI sends its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those killed and to those injured in the attack. We also condemn the racist and divisive rhetoric expressed both before and after this attack. It serves no purpose other than to instil fear and hatred.
We applaud the response of New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and her inclusive stance against divisive politics. There’s no place for anti-immigration, anti-refugee, anti-Muslim beliefs in Australia.
We invite to join us tonight at our Harmony Day event.
